Explorers of the forbidden Landscape

a drawn exploration of the hidden landscape north of Arnhem
Explorers of the forbidden Landscape

Drawing, you are forced to take your time, you look differently, you discover new things you otherwise might’ve missed.

From the estate Koningsweg we have been working together with Hans Jungerius for years on improving the relationship between Arnhem and the Veluwe. The landscape of the estate Koningsweg and a large part of the largely militairy surroundings is now still a forbidden landscape. All roads end with a dead end on the militairy airport of Deelen (North of Arnhem, in the middle of the Veluwe), and the area in between is largely inaccessible and dissected. You cannot enter or you don’t want to enter – the area is beautiful but at the same time somewhat shady. But this is also what makes this landscape exciting.

G.A.N.G. has hired a number of scouts to explore this forbidden landscape, and our buro was one the teams. Armed with drawing material (paper, easel and Edding 3000 markers) we documented the area by drawing things we noticed. The work is published as a booklet.
