Cromhoff Enschede

A variety of urban environments around a forgotten Forest
Cromhoff Enschede
i

In the middle of Enschede lies a forgotten Forest in a swampy Valley, hidden behind fenced industrial plots. Soon this forested Valley Will be the centre of Enschede’s newest urban Development, amidst different outspoken urban environments. The car-free industrial district, with its narrow streets, small squares and former factory-buildings will be the most vivid centre of the area, with a balcony facing the forest in the wetlands.

The park-home-district porch-houses are clustered around a courtyard where also the cars are parked. The porches are all orientated on the shared landscape with the big oak-trees all around the clusters. Here water infiltrates, kids play and the atmosphere of the Central Park continues through the urban area.

The wooden Island lies ín the wetlands of the creek-valley, facing the old forest in the middle of it. This small piece of nature in the city is made accessible by a long boardwalk, connecting the different parts around the wetland, and the citycentre with the suburbs in the south. Soon Cromhoff will be an unexpected urban ánd natural piece of Enschede.
