Honourable Mention at the 10th Nijmegen Architecture Prize 2026

Our Joachim en Anna project has been completed and was immediately honoured with an Honourable Mention at the 10th Nijmegen Architecture Prize 2026. The award itself was won by the residential tower Front, designed by MONADNOCK. The professional jury also granted two Honourable Mentions, one of which went to ๐—๐—ผ๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ถ๐—บ ๐—ฒ๐—ป ๐—”๐—ป๐—ป๐—ฎ.

The jury concluded: โ€œThis is a project created with great care and dedication, aimed at improving the quality of life for residents, staff, and the surrounding neighbourhood. The phasing โ€” constructing while parts of the complex remained in use โ€” presented a highly complex logistical challenge. In addition, the site features significant level differences, a demanding programme, and a limited healthcare construction budget. Despite this complexity, a clear and coherent plan has been realised that functions successfully on multiple scales.โ€

After 10 years of work on this major transformation, this is a wonderful recognition.

Groenmarkt wins Amsterdam Architecture prize

Groenmarkt wins Zuiderkerkprijs! from the jury report: “The past few years have been bizarre years: just emerging from a pandemic – in which the importance of good public space and how we live together in our daily lives – we were confronted with drought, heat, loss of biodiversity and many consequences of climate change. At the same time, reports of housing shortages and the unaffordability of housing, especially in Amsterdam, dominated the news. As a jury, we therefore found it important to choose a project that pays attention to all these aspects: good public space, a sense of ‘community’ and beautiful shared spaces, space for nature and biodiversity and ultimately the importance of the social: a project that also included affordable social housing. The project where it all came together: where we all had the WOW feeling when we stood on the roof of the dune landscape, where Nellie could live in the middle of Amsterdam with her trinkets and pictures of her grandchildren, where the corridors were wide and pleasant and the children played on the square, that is the winner of the Zuiderkerk Prize 2022: Groenmarkt.”
